District Administration, South Andaman Acts Against Illicit Liquor Sale at Shore Point

Bambooflat, June 11: Continuing its vigilant enforcement against illegal sale and possession of liquor, the District Administration, South Andaman through its Excise Department conducted a joint inspection with the local Police authorities at Chunna Bhatta, Shore Point following credible information regarding illicit liquor activity in the area.

During the inspection, a gumti being operated at Shore Point was found to possess liquor bottles suspected to be stored and sold in contravention of the Excise Rules. The accused along with the seized liquor was handed over to the Police authorities on the spot for necessary legal action.

In connection with the seizure of illicit liquor and unauthorized possession, an FIR has been registered under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, along with applicable provisions of the Excise Regulation. The matter is under active investigation and strict legal action will follow as per law.

District Administration will continue with strict enforcement against such illegal activities in the coming days as well. These unlawful practices not only constitute a violation of established laws but also pose a serious threat to public order, safety and health. Reiterating its zero-tolerance policy, the District Administration warns that stringent penal action will be initiated against individuals involved in bootlegging, illicit trade, and unauthorised possession or sale of liquor.
