Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 13: The Andaman & Nicobar Command (ANC) is delighted to invite all Islanders to join the 79th Independence Day Celebrations on the eve of 15 August 2025. As part of the commemoration, a Joint Services Band Symphonic Concert, comprising the Naval Band, the Army Pipe Band and the renowned Garhwal Rifles Regiment Band (which has come all the way from Dharmashala specially to perform in the event) will be held at Marina Park, Sri Vijaya Puram, commencing at 1630 hrs ( 04:30 PM ) for two hours.
The concert will present a diverse repertoire, including Western classical, Bollywood classics and patriotic songs paying homage to India’s freedom fighters, along with instrumental pieces and special rendition dedicated to the nation’s struggle for Independence.
A highlight of the evening will be the synchronised illumination and firing of flares by Navy, Coast Guard and DSS ships anchored off Flag Point at 1745/ hrs (05:45 PM), coinciding with sunset, creating a spectacular visual display over the waters.
