Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 7: The Andaman & Nicobar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ANCCI) extends its heartfelt congratulations and warmest wishes to Dr. Dinesh Sharma on his appointment as the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
On behalf of the business, trade and industrial community of the Islands, I welcome this appointment with great hope and optimism. We are confident that Dr. Dinesh Sharma experience, administrative leadership and development-oriented vision will provide a new impetus to the growth and transformation of the Union Territory.
The Andaman & Nicobar Islands possess enormous untapped potential in tourism, fisheries, marine activities, logistics, shipping, renewable energy, hospitality, MSMEs and other emerging sectors. ANCCI strongly believes that the Islands can become a major gateway for India’s Act East Policy and an important centre for sustainable economic activity in the Bay of Bengal.
The Chamber looks forward to working closely with the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor and the Administration on a focused development agenda, particularly:-
i. Strengthening air and sea connectivity with the mainland and international destinations.
ii. Expanding tourism infrastructure and promoting high-value and sustainable tourism.
iii. Facilitating private investment and creating a more robust ease-of-doing-business environment.
iv. Accelerating infrastructure development, including roads, ports, jetties and logistics facilities.
v. Promoting MSMEs, start-ups, fisheries, food processing and local entrepreneurship.
vi. Developing the Islands as a strategic hub for maritime trade and logistics.
vii. Creating greater employment opportunities for the local population, and
viii. Ensuring that economic development goes hand in hand with the protection of the Islands’ unique ecology and environment.
ANCCI is confident that, under Dr. Dinesh Sharma leadership, a strong partnership between the Administration and the private sector can unlock the tremendous economic potential of the Islands and create a new chapter of inclusive, sustainable and investment-led development.
The Chamber assures the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of its full cooperation and constructive support in all initiatives aimed at the progress and prosperity of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
