Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 11: Demonstrating its commitment to Aid to Civil Authorities, Headquarters Andaman and Nicobar Command swiftly responded to a request from the civil administration at Campbell Bay following the accidental submergence of a truck near the RCC Jetty.
The submerged vehicle posed a potential navigation hazard and obstructed essential berthing space for ships. On receipt of the request, HQ ANC immediately directed INS Baaz to coordinate and undertake the salvage operation. A specialised naval diving team was promptly deployed to the site to execute the recovery.
Displaying high levels of professional expertise, technical proficiency and operational agility, the diving team successfully secured and retrieved the submerged vehicle within a short timeframe. The swift clearance of the vehicle restored the RCC Jetty for safe berthing and movement of DSS ships, thereby ensuring continuity of essential passenger and cargo services.
The successful operation underscores HQ ANC’s continued commitment to providing prompt, professional and effective assistance to civil authorities, while leveraging its operational capabilities in support of the island communities across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
