Sri Vijaya Puram, July 31: The Andaman & Nicobar Administration (South Andaman District), in collaboration with MY Bharat, Sri Vijaya Puram, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, will organise the “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan” on 2nd August 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Auditorium, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Institute of Technology (DBRAIT), Sri Vijaya Puram. The programme is being organised as part of the nationwide Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan to strengthen the national movement towards a Drug-Free India and inspire youth to contribute to the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.
The highlight of the programme will be the virtual address by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, who will interact with youth from across the country. The nationwide campaign is expected to connect nearly 10,000 locations and engage more than one crore youth through both physical and virtual participation. In South Andaman District, around 1,000 MY Bharat volunteers and youth are expected to participate in this significant national campaign.
The programme at Sri Vijaya Puram will witness the participation of MY Bharat Volunteers, NSS volunteers, students from leading higher educational institutions, including Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM), Tagore Government College of Education (TGCE), Andaman College (ANCOL), Andaman Law College (ALC), Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Institute of Technology (DBRAIT), Andaman & Nicobar Islands Institute of Medical Sciences (ANIIMS), and the Industrial Training Institute (ITI), along with members of Youth Clubs, NGOs, spiritual organisations, and representatives from various Government Departments. Participants will collectively take the Nasha Mukt Yuva Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to a drug-free lifestyle and encouraging others to join the movement.
As part of this campaign, a 100-week nationwide Sunday movement will be launched to promote sports, fitness, yoga, meditation, cultural activities, awareness programmes, and community engagement. In addition, district-level activities such as awareness rallies, walkathons, street plays, signature campaigns, and other outreach programmes will be organised to mobilise youth and the community against substance abuse.
The Andaman & Nicobar Administration (South Andaman District) and MY Bharat, Sri Vijaya Puram appeal to all educational institutions, youth organisations, civil society organisations, parents, and citizens, especially the youth, to actively participate in this important campaign and take the e-Pledge through the MY Bharat Portal. The media is requested to extend wide publicity to ensure maximum public participation in this national movement towards a Drug-Free India.
