Sri Vijaya Puram, June 2: The Andaman & Nicobar Police formally welcomed Shri Ravindra Singh Yadav, IPS (AGMUT: 1995), as the new Director General of Police in a ceremonial parade held at the Police Lines Parade Ground.
Seven contingents representing the Executive Police (Male & Female), Indian Reserve Battalion, Fire & Emergency Services, and Home Guard Organisation took part in the parade, accompanied by the Male Brass Band and Ladies Pipe Band. The parade was commanded by Shri Naveen Kumar, Assistant Commandant, IRBn, and was attended by senior officers ranging from IGP to Dy. SP, along with personnel from across the Department.
Addressing the force, Shri Yadav articulated his guiding philosophy of “Polite but Firm” — calling on all ranks to remain accessible and compassionate toward the public while upholding the law without compromise. He emphasized that public trust is the bedrock of effective policing, and can only be earned through consistent professionalism, integrity, and accountability.
The new DGP outlined key priorities for his tenure, including proactive crime prevention, intelligence-led operations, quality investigations, and deeper community engagement. Given the Islands’ strategic maritime position, he stressed the critical importance of coastal security and seamless coordination between the Police, Coast Guard, Marine Units, and allied agencies. He also called for greater adoption of technology to improve operational effectiveness and public service delivery.
Shri Yadav concluded by reaffirming his commitment to the welfare of police personnel, recognizing that a motivated, well-trained, and supported force is fundamental to the mission of the department.
The A&N Police extends its best wishes to Shri Ravindra Singh Yadav for a distinguished and impactful tenure.
“United in Purpose, Committed to Service.”
