Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 24: Shri. Anil Kumar Tiwari, State President, Bharatiya Janata Party, A & N Islands, taking serious note of the alleged performance paralysis happening in BSNL, A & N Telecom Circle, has written a letter to Mananiya Jyotiraditya M Scindia, Hon’ble Minister of Communication, Govt. of India, urging him to immediately intervene and ensure posting of a regular CGM in A & N Islands.
Shri. Tiwari, in his letter has stated that the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is the life line of strategically placed A & N group of Islands. The BSNL is the only service provider which connects all the habited Islands through its Mobile / Internet Network.
He has further added in his letter that as of now the BSNL Andaman & Nicobar Telecom Circle is facing a crisis of performance paralysis due to the absence of a regular Chief General Manager (CGM) since 30th April 2025. Along with the staffs of the BSNL, the general publics too are suffering because of delays in approvals concerned to the vital new projects like the 4G saturation projects and other day today matters of BSNL, from the competent authority.
The temporary arrangement of deputing an officer posted in Kolkata Circle for Andaman & Nicobar circle for approvals is practically not workable as the Islands are distantly placed.
This is also a fact that A & N Telecom Circle is one of the three profit making circle in the country. Hence it is expected by the Island population as well as BSNL Staffs that the BSNL head office and the Ministry of Communication must give special care towards ensuring smooth functioning of BSNL, A & N Telecom Circle, by immediately posting a CGM, the letter further points.
