Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 13: In a strong display of opposition, the Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC) firmly objected to the proposed electricity tariff hike during the public hearing organized by the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC) at the DBRAIT Auditorium.
Leading the charge, Shri Rangalal Halder, President of ANTCC and Shri TSG Bhasker, Chairman of Campaign Committee- ANTCC, criticized the Electricity Department’s move to burden consumers with higher tariffs despite ongoing service shortcomings.
They were accompanied by several Congress leaders and PRI Members South Andaman who also strongly condemned the tariff hike.
The Congress Party unanimously demanded that the tariff hike proposal be immediately withdrawn and urged the JERC to prioritize the interests of the common people.
