Awareness Programme Organised for Pregnant and Nursing Mothers

Sri Vijaya Puram, May 23: The State Hub for Empowerment of Women under Social Welfare Department conducted an awareness programme yesterday for pregnant women and nursing mothers. The program was conducted in collaboration with the Department of Health Services at Birdline Anganwadi Center. The programme was attended by 32 participants highlighting the importance of good health and hygiene.

During the awareness programme, Dr. HM Siddaraju, Deputy Director, Family Welfare, DHS discussed the value of good health & hygiene, Prohibition of Child Marriage Act 2006, early pregnancy and anemia. Dr. Shweta, Medical Officer, RBSK, DHS shared valuable information about menstrual hygiene, nutritional diet and Adolescent Friendly Health Clinics (Yuva Clinic).

Smt. Hemlatha and Smt. P Deepa Laxmi (Gender Specialist) held an interactive session among the participants and concluded the event stating that health and hygiene are the foundation of life and by prioritizing cleanliness, we can create a safer, healthier and more resilient community. The program was conducted under the guidance of Shri. Ravinder Kumar, Director of Social Welfare and Ms. Reeta Devi, Nodal Officer, SHEW.
