Sri Vijaya Puram, May 15: An awareness programme on Drug Abuse and Prevention was conducted at Wandoor Gram Panchayat under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan on May 9. The initiative was spearheaded by the Directorate of Social Welfare in coordination with the Police Department (Anti-Narcotics Division), Health Department and Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (IRCA).
The session was aimed at educating the community about the harmful impacts of alcohol, tobacco, and drug abuse on personal health, family life, and the overall social fabric. Emphasis was laid on the clear link between substance abuse and rising incidents of crime and public safety concerns.
Speakers from various Departments provided valuable insights into the rehabilitation journey, challenges faced by those battling addiction, and the critical role of community involvement in prevention efforts. The programme also shed light on the various support services and assistance available for individuals and families affected by substance use disorders.
