
Sri Vijaya Puram, April 16: The World Homoeopathy Day 2026 was celebrated with great enthusiasm on 13th April, 2026 at Sri Vijaya Puram. The event was organized by the AYUSH Unit under the Directorate of Health Services in collaboration with the Andaman & Nicobar State Ayush Society (National Ayush Mission). The closing ceremony marked the culmination of month-long activities conducted under World Homoeopathy Day.
Dr. H. M. Siddaraju, Director of Health Services, graced the occasion as the chief guest, while Ms. Sumitamol, Director of Composite Regional Centre (CRC), attended as the guest of honour. In his address, the chief guest emphasized the relevance of homoeopathy in modern healthcare, describing it as a safe, effective, and holistic system of medicine.
The ceremony began with paying floral tributes to the founder of homoeopathy, Dr. Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann. Dr. M. K. Saha, Medical Superintendent of G.B. Pant Hospital and Ms. Sumitamol also addressed the gathering.
Dr. Kalyan P. Kadbhane, Deputy Director (Ayush) presented a comprehensive overview of the activities conducted across the islands. Earlier, Dr. Manabika Dutta, MO I/c (Homoeo), AYUSH Hospital, briefly highlighted the significance and outline of the event.
A noteworthy highlight of the programme was an informative skit on the Homoeopathic management of autism, presented by students. Certificates were distributed to winners of various competitions by the dignitaries. A major attraction of the event was the mini exhibition organized by various Departments. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Supriya Arangi, MO (H).
