
Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 5: The C.D. Block Prothrapur has organized a program on Oct. 3 under Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA), a centrally sponsored scheme of MoPR, GoI, focused on ensuring good health, well-being, and disease prevention in the Gram Panchayats, with a special emphasis on mental and physical health awareness. The Block Officials, Panchayat Secretaries, Panchayat Health and Sanitation Committee members, Anganwadi workers and members of Self Help Groups (SHGs) of NRLM participated in the event.
The program was inaugurated by Smt. Gurjeet Kaur, Block Development Officer, CD Block Prothrapur. Addressing the gathering, she highlighted the importance of health and well-being in rural communities with the collective support and guidance of Heath Department, Social Welfare Department as well as local Health and Sanitation Committees of the Gram Panchayat.
Subsequently, Smti. Vijiya, Domain Expert from Directorate of RD, RRI & ULBD, delivered a comprehensive technical session on Theme 2 of LSD goals, focusing on healthy villages and the role of Gram Panchayats in ensuring proper waste management, sanitation facilities, and cleanliness in public spaces to promote disease prevention. Smt. Poonam Tirkey and Smti. Jyothimani, Resource Persons from the Health Department, explained the importance of healthy and disease free life as well as role of the Health & Wellness Centres for achieving the same. Shri. Gawri Sankar, District Coordinator from Social Welfare, conducted a session on schemes focused on health, nutrition, and well-being implemented by the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) for wellbeing of the Women and Child of the Gram Panchayats.
Dr. Nandani from AYUSH Hospital conducted a live yoga session promoting physical and mental well-being. The program concluded with the celebration of ‘Poshan Maah’, featuring a cooking competition among members of SHG formed under the NRLM scheme. The event aimed to promote awareness about nutrition and the importance of a balanced diet.
