Sri Vijaya Puram, April 23: The inaugural function of World Book and Copyright Day – 2026, being observed from 23rd to 25th April 2026, commenced today at the State Library, Middle Point, Sri Vijaya Puram. As part of the celebration, the Education Department has organized a Book Exhibition featuring approximately 702 books covering a wide range of subjects, including novels, children’s literature, personality development, competitive examination guides, biographies, cookery, mythology, fantasy, science fiction and books on the history of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Smti Archana Singh, Principal/Nodal Officer, State Library, Sri Vijaya Puram as the chief guest. She highlighted the importance of developing reading habits and emphasized the vital role of libraries as centres of learning, repositories of knowledge and community resource hubs. The Book Exhibition will remain open to the public from 9 AM to 7 PM during the above-mentioned dates.
