Chess Training Programme Held at GMS Humfrygunj

Humfrygunj, Aug 11: The Directorate of Education, A & N Administration, today conducted a chess training programme for the students of Govt Middle School, Humfrygunj. Altogether sixty enthusiastic boys and girls of the school participated in the training, which was conducted separately for beginners and intermediate-level students at the school premises.

The programme was inaugurated by Smti. Sareela Younus, Headmistress (Middle), GMS Humphreygunj, who made the ceremonial first move on the chessboard. She highlighted that chess nurtures empathy, foresight, and focus, while at the same time developing thinking skills—qualities that contribute significantly to academic success.

As part of the programme, a simultaneous chess exhibition (simul) was also organised for intermediate-level players, giving them the unique opportunity to play against the trainer in a lively and interactive setting. The initiative aims to introduce the game of chess to more students, enabling them to enjoy its cognitive and educational benefits while sharpening their chess skills.
