Sri Vijaya Puram, May 14: In an effort to enhance patient safety, the Clinical Research Unit (Homoeopathy) organized a comprehensive Pharmacovigilance Program at the Health and Wellness Center, Jirkatang, under the jurisdiction of PHC Ferrargunj on May 8, 2025. The session was led by Dr. Namita Gopal, JRF (H), a distinguished expert in pharmacovigilance, alongside Dr. Farheen, SRF (H), both from the Clinical Research Unit (H).
Dr. Namita Gopal emphasized the critical role of pharmacovigilance in identifying, assessing and preventing Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs) and other drug-related concerns. Dr. Farheen concluded the session by underscoring the necessity of understanding how to manage suspected ADRs and fostering a collaborative approach to monitoring and reporting.
The program was conducted in collaboration with the Medical Officer In-Charge (MO/IC) and the Medical Officer (H.), PHC Ferrargunj. Following the session, a Health Camp was also organized to further promote wellness within the community.
This is an interesting and important subject regarding homeopathy’s safety and effectiveness, but there should be caution on not to apply the conventional medicine understanding of this phenomena to homeopathy, because there are no direct toxic effects caused by homeopathic medicines but “reactive” responses to the homeopathic medicines, a phenomena described originally as “homeopathic provings,” by Hahnemann.
