
Rangat, Dec. 5: The Department of Agriculture, Rangat, successfully organized the World Soil Day celebrations today at Dashratpur, Rangat. The program was held under the global theme ‘Healthy Soil for Healthy Cities’, highlighting the vital role of soil in sustaining urban life, food security, and environmental health.
Smti. Shirly Thomas, Assistant Director (Agri.), Rangat welcomed the chief guest, Shri. Ajit Dakua, Chairman, PACS, guest of honour, Shri. Lankeswar and participants. Shri. Kanhaiya Lal Prasad, Agriculture Officer exhorted the participants to adopt Good Agricultural Practices and related schemes. Dr. Chandan Lall, JSCA talked about organic farming, sustainable nutrient management and schemes related to soil conservation, farm mechanization, Soil Health Card scheme under RKVY.
A special emphasis was placed on creating awareness about Soil Health Cards, which provide farmers with scientific assessments of soil quality and nutrient status. Participants were informed about how these cards serve as vital tools for guiding balanced fertilizer use, improving crop productivity, and ensuring long-term soil fertility. The event witnessed 30 enthusiastic participants including farmers, local SHG members, Chairman of PACS, PRI member and officials of the Department. The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Shri. Pradeep Halder incharge, Sub-depot, Rangat.
