Department of AH&VS Adopts Farmer’s Field for Demonstration Purpose

Sri Vijaya Puram, June 29: The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services (AH&VS) has taken a significant step towards promoting integrated farming systems by adopting a farmer’s field for demonstration purposes. As part of this initiative, the Department distributed 45-day-old ducklings, Azolla, and superior hybrid Napier grass cuttings to the farmer, Shri Balvinder Singh, unemployed educated youth, Lal Pahad, Chouldari.

During the program, Senior Veterinary Officer (AH) and Senior Veterinary Officer (AHTI) provided hands-on training and awareness on the Duckling Management, Azolla Cultivation and Fodder cultivation. Under the Duckling Management Techniques on brooding, feeding, and health care were shared to ensure better survival and productivity, a live demonstration was conducted highlighting Azolla Cultivation benefits as a cost-effective, protein-rich livestock feed. The farmers were introduced to Super Napier Grass, a high-yielding fodder grass which can enhance green fodder availability throughout the year in the farm.

This initiative is aimed at encouraging sustainable and integrated livestock-farming practices among rural farmers to improve their livelihood and productivity.
