Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan. 22: As part of the ongoing Animal Welfare Fortnight- 2026, the Deptt. of AH&VS conducted a Door-to-Door Animal Health Camp at Manglutan on Jan. 18. Veterinary teams visited households across the area, examining cattle, goats, pigs, poultry, dogs, cats and other animals. Basic health care services provided included clinical check-ups, treatment for common ailments, deworming, wound dressing, advice on nutrition and hygiene, and administration of necessary vaccinations where required. A special focus of the camp was on creating awareness about the Animal Birth Control Programme using Sex Sorted Semen (ABIP-SSS).
The camp witnessed active participation from local livestock rearers and pet owners, many of whom expressed gratitude for the convenient and personalised service. The initiative not only addressed immediate health needs but also strengthened community trust in the Department’s welfare-oriented approach. The Animal Welfare Fortnight 2026 continues with a series of activities aimed at promoting kindness towards animals and scientific husbandry practices.
