Director RD, PRIs & ULBs Chairs Review Meeting at Panchayat Samiti Little Andaman

Little Andaman, April 26: Dr. Apurva Sharma, Director (RD, PRIs & ULBs), visited Little Andaman on 25th–26th April, 2026 and chaired a review meeting at Panchayat Samiti, Little Andaman with PRI representatives, officials, and SHG members.

During the meeting, issues relating to non-availability of quarry materials and white moorum, delays in execution of works, MGNREGA implementation, and infrastructure constraints were discussed. The Director directed concerned officials to resolve bottlenecks on priority, ensure timely execution of works, and strengthen monitoring and coordination. He also interacted with Self Help Groups (SHGs) and emphasized promotion of market-oriented and eco-friendly products, along with improved marketing linkages and tourism-based opportunities.

As part of the visit, the Director conducted field inspections of Solid Waste Management facilities, ongoing works, and public infrastructure, and issued necessary directions for improving waste management, cleanliness, and service delivery.

On 26th April, 2026, the Director inaugurated the renovated Fish Market at Gandhi Bazaar, Hut Bay, and interacted with the fishermen community. He assured that issues relating to infrastructure, facilities, and safe boat parking would be addressed in a phased manner.

The Director reiterated the commitment of the Administration towards ensuring balanced and sustainable development in Little Andaman.
