Heritage Consultant and Marine Biologist Brings Andaman’s Ocean Perspective to 400 Middle School Students Across Gurgaon, Noida, and Faridabad

Gurgaon, April 26: Samhita Veda Acharyaa, heritage consultant and coach, was invited as a guest speaker at three Shiv Nadar Schools for the STEAM Conclave, where she presented on the theme “Underwater Lives Matter.” The sessions took place on April 21 and 22, 2026, across the school campuses in Gurgaon, Noida, and Faridabad.

Acharyaa, who holds a Master’s degree in Marine Biology and has spent nearly 17 years teaching undergraduates at JNRM in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, traveled from Port Blair to share insights on marine ecosystems and conservation with middle school students. Her background blends academic marine science with heritage preservation, offering students a perspective that connects science, culture, and environmental stewardship.

The seminar series reached nearly 400 students and focused on the importance of marine biodiversity and the role young learners can play in protecting underwater habitats. Drawing from her experience in the Andamans, Acharyaa highlighted local marine life and the broader ecological significance of oceans in the context of climate and sustainability.

As part of the Conclave, Acharyaa was honored to inaugurate the student-led exhibition on plastic pollution at Shiv Nadar School, Faridabad. The exhibition showcased student research and creative projects addressing the impact of plastic waste on marine environments.

“The response from students was thoughtful and engaged,” Acharyaa said. “Bringing the story of underwater ecosystems into the classroom helps build a sense of responsibility that starts early.”

School faculty noted that the sessions added depth to the STEAM Conclave’s interdisciplinary approach, linking biology with real-world environmental challenges.
