Sri Vijaya Puram, July 2: In a significant initiative aimed at promoting, encouraging, and empowering young girls through the game of chess, Directorate of Education, in association with the Andaman Nicobar Chess Association (ANCA), under the national scheme “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao,” will be organizing the Smart Girls (Under-19) Chess Tournament – 2025 on 12th and 13th July, 2025 at the auditorium of Govt. Girls Sr. Sec. School, Sri Vijaya Puram.
This exclusive tournament is open only to girls. Those born on or after 01.01.2006 are eligible to participate. Prizes will be awarded across multiple age categories viz Under-7, 9, 11, 13, 15, and 19 within a single tournament format, ensuring inclusive participation and recognition of talent at every level.
Organized in line with the national initiative “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao,” the event is designed to provide a platform for young female minds to showcase their strategic skills, build confidence, and encourage active participation in intellectual sports like chess.
There is no entry fee for participation. However, AICF registration for the year 2025–2026 is mandatory for all participants.
