DLSA Organises Awareness Programme on Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace

Sri Vijaya Puram, July 4: The District Legal Services Authority, South Andaman, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, organized a Legal Awareness Programme today at the District Court Complex, Port Blair, on the topic ‘Sexual Harassment of Women at the Workplace’. The sensitization programme was primarily attended by Judicial employees and Learned Advocates of the District Court, Port Blair.

The event was graced by the august presence of Shri Sudhir Kumar, Hon’ble District Judge-cum-Chairman, DLSA, A&N Islands, Shri Neyaz Alam, Hon’ble Additional District and Sessions Judge, Port Blair, Shri Samrat Roy, Learned Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, DLSA, A&N Islands, and Shri Pabitra Sen, Joint Civil Judge (Senior Division), Port Blair.

The programme was also attended by Shri Rakesh Pal Gobind, Secretary, A&N Bar Association and Ms. Tasneem Abid, Learned Special Public Prosecutor (POCSO), and Ms. Alima Bibi, Advocate.

During the session, Hon’ble Shri Sudhir Kumar elaborated on the issue of sexual harassment in the workplace, explaining in detail the rights of women employees, the procedure for lodging complaints, and the functioning of the redressal mechanism established under the law. The programme aimed to raise awareness and empower women employees to confidently report any incidents of harassment and to ensure a safe and dignified working environment for all.

The District Legal Services Authority remains committed to promoting legal literacy and protecting the rights of women in the workplace through continuous sensitization and awareness initiatives.
