
Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 11: In order to strengthen preparedness and to promote discipline, the Directorate of Shipping Services today conducted Earthquake Mock Drill at DSS Marine Dockyard. The drill was conducted under the supervision of the Nodal Officer Disaster Management, DSS and saw active participation from all employees of Marine Dockyard along with Disaster Management Team of this Directorate. As part of the exercise, a total of 209 personnel was evacuated to the designated shelter point. The mock scenario also included the rescue of one simulated injured person, who were promptly given first aid and evacuated by the response team.
The entire exercise was carried out in a coordinated manner, demonstrating efficient response protocols and inter-agency cooperation under the overall supervision of Shri. L.T. Shiju Cheriyan, Deputy Director (i/c), DSS. Once the situation was declared normalized, all personnel returned safely to their respective workstations.
