DSS Conducts Tsunami Mock Drill at Marine Dockyard

Sri Vijaya Puram, May 12: The Directorate of Shipping Services (DSS) conducted a Tsunami Mock Drill today at the Marine Dockyard, Sri Vijaya Puram. The drill was carried out under the supervision of the Nodal Officer (Disaster Management), DSS, and witnessed active participation from all employees of the Marine Dockyard, along with vendors operating within the dockyard premises.

As part of the exercise, a total of 642 personnel were evacuated to the designated shelter point. The mock scenario was activated today and included the mustering of all personnel at designated assembly points, followed by an orderly movement to the safe shelter at Marine Hill. The drill also involved the rescue of simulated injured persons, who were promptly administered first aid and evacuated by the response team.

The entire exercise was executed in a well-coordinated manner, demonstrating effective response protocols and strong inter-agency cooperation under the overall supervision of the Marine Engineer, Marine Dockyard, DSS. After the situation was declared normal, all personnel safely returned to their respective workstations within the dockyard.
