
Sri Vijaya Puram, June 20: As per the directive of the Chief Secretary mandating quarterly mock drills across all Departments of A&N Administration, the Directorate of Disaster Management, A&N Administration organized a Fire Mock Drill at the Haddo Wharf, Sri Vijaya Puram today. The exercise was conducted in coordination with the Port Management Board, Health, CISF and Fire Departments to evaluate the Department’s preparedness for emergency situations.
The drill commenced with a simulated fire scenario, following the simulated events, Departmental teams carried out safe evacuation procedures. Search and rescue operations were conducted efficiently, and first aid was promptly administered to the injured. The communication team played a vital role by immediately alerting the State Emergency Operation Center (SEOC-1070), District Emergency Operation Center (DEOC-S/A-1077), Emergency Response Support System (ERSS-112), and other concerned Departments, including Fire and Health services. Fire tenders and ambulances reached the scene swiftly, ensuring timely management of the situation and delivery of medical assistance. The drill highlighted the readiness and inter-agency coordination crucial for effective disaster response.
A debriefing session was held after the completion of the drill. During the session, the Observers from Resource Departments briefed the staff on their findings and identified gaps. They appreciated the staff’s adherence to the mock drill procedures and also recommended updating resources to effectively handle emergencies.
