HumaneTouch Organizes Anti-Drug and Alcohol Awareness Programs Across Andaman & Nicobar Islands

Sri Vijaya Puram, June 29: On the occasion of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, HumaneTouch, a prominent NGO, conducted a series of awareness programs on June 26, 2025, across nine locations in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The initiative aimed to educate communities about the dangers of drug abuse and promote a drug-free society through engaging talks by police, health, and community leaders.

In Diglipur, the event was held at the Old Durgapur Community Hall, featuring Police Constable Soma Day, who highlighted the legal consequences of drug abuse, and Dr. Shipra Mistry, who discussed its health impacts. Uman Khan, a HumaneTouch speaker, inspired the audience with a motivational talk on community resilience.

In Mayabunder, Dr. Priyanka Iqbal addressed health concerns related to drug addiction, while K. Nausad Ali and M. Yusuf delivered the welcome address and vote of thanks, respectively. The program, attended by 45 people, included insights from Shri. Thomson, Pradhan of Rampur.

Rangat saw ASI Rajani Kullu from PS Rangat and Health Educator KK Gharami speak on law enforcement and health risks, with A. Irfan representing HumaneTouch. The program was held at ITI Bakultala auditorium for the students.

In Kamorta, Dr. Shabnam Salim, Dr. Nirmal Kumar Bajpai, and Dr. Solomon Mark Paul focused on health awareness, while MK Arshad delivered a community-focused talk.

Campbell Bay hosted a vibrant event with Dr. Rajeshwari (Ayurveda) and Simran Kaur (SOCO, Forensic) as key speakers. Chief Guest Smti. Bindu Verma, Principal of GSSS Campbell Bay, and Guest of Honor Smti. Rameshwari, Pradhan, graced the occasion. Br. N. Mohd Shakir and Br. N. Mohd Shafique spoke for HumaneTouch, with Br. Suresh Kumar anchoring and Br. A. Arshad delivering the vote of thanks.

In Hutbay, SI Regan Isaac, Pradhan Rudra, and P. Mujib Rehman addressed the audience, while Baratang featured HC G. Madav Rao, Dr. Santhosh Kumar, and HumaneTouch speakers M.K. Naseef and N. Shahid. Car Nicobar saw a collaborative effort with Dr. Mohammad Shafique, Dr. Jiji Paul, C. Sainudheen, and Brij Mangal Rai raising awareness on drug abuse.

Wimberly Gunj drew a crowd of approximately 150, with SHO Bamboo Flat S. Kannan as Chief Guest. Health Educator P. Yousuf, Sub-Inspector Manoj Lall, and HumaneTouch member N. Yassir emphasized prevention and community action.The PRI members and NGO’S of Ferrargunj tehsil actively participated in this program.

The programs underscored HumaneTouch’s commitment to combating drug abuse and alcoholism through education and community engagement, leaving a lasting impact across the islands.
