
Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 11: The Institution of Engineers (India), Andaman & Nicobar State Centre, in association with the National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit-II of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Institute of Technology (DBRAIT), celebrated World Habitat Day 2026 under the theme “Adequate Housing for All” at Beodnabad Panchayat Hall, Sri Vijaya Puram, on 10 October 2026.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Chairperson Er. Usha Stephen, FIE, who highlighted the importance of affordable housing and encouraged the adoption of costeffective, self-sufficient and sustainable housing solutions.
Pradhan of Beodnabad Panchayat, R. Paramasivan, briefed the gathering on the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and the challenges associated with its implementation. He urged engineers to develop innovative and practical solutions to make housing more affordable and accessible.
Chief Guest Er. Avinash Kumar Singh, Superintending Engineer, Sri Vijaya Puram Municipal Council (SVPMC), shared insights into completed projects and innovative construction techniques that could benefit the general public. He also highlighted emerging technologies and their potential to promote affordable housing.
The programme included a felicitation ceremony and concluded with a vote of thanks by Honorary Secretary Er. Debdas Paik, MIE. Corporate members of IEI, NSS Unit-II students of DBRAIT, and local residents of the Beodnabad Panchayat area attended the event, reinforcing the collective commitment to adequate and affordable housing for all.
