Port Blair, Dec. 13: A delegation of Andaman Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ACCI) led by Shri Surendra Prahladka, President; Shri K. Chandrasekar, Vice President; Shri G. Dhinakaran, General Secretary and Shri Girish Arora, Former President met the Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Nityanand Rai, at Raj Niwas, yesterday.

Port Blair, Dec. 11: The Hon’ble Minister of State for Home, Shri Nityanand Rai today inspected Andaman Trunk Road (NH-4). The NHIDCL Officials briefed the Minster about the progress of every package and over all progress of NH-4 as well as the construction status of the two bridges in ATR. Later, the Minister visited the construction site of District Hospital Garacharma where he was apprised about the upgradation of the Primary Health Centre, Garacharma into a District Hospital. The Commissioner–cum Secretary (Health), Dr. V. Candavelou, the Secretary (Health), Ms. Kriti Garg, the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, Shri Suneel Anchipaka and the DHS, Dr. Omkar Singh were also present at the project site.

Port Blair, Dec. 1: The team of South Andaman District Police has once again proved their efficiency and booked one accused under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act 1985 with the recovery of 1.835 Kgs of Ganja.

Port Blair, Dec. 10: The Hon’ble Minister of State for Home, Shri Nityanand Rai currently on a 4-day visit to the Islands today visited COVID Care Centre at DBRAIT Dollygunj where the Minister was briefed about the Administration’s effort towards containing spread of COVID -19. The Minister also met the frontline workers, Doctors taking care of the patients at COVID Care Centre at DBRAIT. The Commissioner–cum Secretary (Health), Dr. V Candavelou, the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, Shri Suneel Anchipaka were also present during the visit.

Port Blair, Dec. 11: PM SVANidhi has proved to be a blessing for small street vendors, whose savings had exhausted and their means of survival had come to a halt during the pandemic period. SmtiVijaya, a lady street vendor involved in breakfast business at Dollygunj, is one among the affected. Tragedy hit her hard when she lost her husband during the COVID period. She has a school going son to take care of. Devastated with the loss of her husband and the only source of livelihood,she recalls that did not have the money to buy ration for home. She used to wait for the van which supplied free food on a daily basis, initiated by the A &N administration.
