Port Blair, June 12: The first meeting of the Andaman & Nicobar State Organising Committee of the All India Democratic Women’s Association was held at Shaheed Bhavan, Anarkali, Port Blair on 11.06.2022 under the chairmanship of C. Anandi, Convener. The meeting discussed various issues relating to women in Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

The meeting noted that atrocities on women are increasing in the Islands and women are put to unnecessary harassment and exploitation. The meeting observed that authorities are not attending to the grievance and problems of women in the Islands. 

Port Blair, June 12: The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) expresses its deep concern at the incidents of violence which have occurred in Ranchi, Howrah and some other places during protests against the offensive remarks against Prophet Muhammad made by two BJP spokespersons.

While the anger against such provocative and insulting remarks are justified, any violent protest will play into the hands of communal forces and further aggravate the situation.  The CPI(M) appeals to the people to maintain calm and peace.

Port Blair, June 12: Acting on a specific information received from reliable source, one person namely Mohammed Yaquoob R/o Sippighat was arrested by PS Aberdeen after he received a parcel from DTDC Courier, Junglighat which contained 80 gms of Contraband item (Ganja). The Ganja was clandestinely concealed inside the parcel sent from Kolkatta.

Pradhan and PRIs of Gram Panchayat Threaten Mass Resignation if the Issue is Not Addressed on Time

Diglipur, June 10: Mr Mitun Das, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat, Ramnagar along with all PRIs of the have threatened a mass resignation if the STS Bus Service is not restored in the village. They have given an ultimatum of 30 days within which if there is no response, the mass resignation will be submitted.
