Diglipur, March 3: The Deputy Commissioner, North and Middle Andaman, Shri Ankit Yadav IAS, visited Diglipur region. He was accompanied by Shri Anuj Kumar Bharti, Assistant Commissioner, Diglipur, Shri M. Rajendra Kumar, Block Development Officer, Diglipur, and Revenue Department officials and inspected the progress of various projects.

Soon after arrival, the Deputy Commissioner held a meeting with the HoDs and PRIs at the APWD guest house Conference hall during which Deputy Commissioner enquired about the issues and challenges faced by the local inhabitants. Sector-wise issues pertaining to the road, electricity, water, school, health, tourism, forests & revenue matters were highlighted by the public representatives. Upon this, the Deputy Commissioner assured that genuine grievances which require immediate redressal will be looked into and the concerned officials were directed to ensure their speedy redressal for the convenience of the people.

Port Blair, March 3: In suspension of Order No.59 dated 16/01/2023 issued by the Directorate of Tourism, A&N Administration, the A&N Administration has revised the rate for certified tourists guide for visiting Natural Bridge at Laxmanpur-II, Shaheed Dweep. Accordingly, the revised rates are as mentioned below:

Tourists 1–5 Nos. - Guide Fee @ Rs. 250/- - 50-60 minuntes - All sites

Each Additional Tourist above 5 Nos. - Guide Fee @ Rs. 50/-       

Port Blair, March 3: The general public have been informed that due to deficit monsoon during 2022-23, the storage of water at all sources in South Andaman including Dhanikhari Dam has depleted substantially. Keeping in view the situation and the fact that storage of water available needs to be regulated till the arrival of the next South West Monsoon in May/June,2023, it has become inevitable to impose curtailment in the quantity of water to the extent of 30%. Consequently, the water supply to all areas falling under the jurisdiction of PHED, APWD and in the jurisdiction of PBMC shall be now made once in 3 days with effect from 09.03.2023 instead of the present schedule on alternate days.

Port Blair, March 3: The Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India, in collaboration with SPIC MACAY, Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst the Youth, is organizing cultural programmes under the umbrella of ‘Shruti Amrut’ as part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ across the country. ‘Shruti Amrut’ festival is a minimum of 2 days long festival with Indian Classical Music and dance and Folk art forms from across the Country.   

Port Blair, March 3: The President, Hindu Rashtra Shakti, A&N Islands, Shri Rakeshwar Lall has requested the Lt. Governor, A&N Islands to withdraw the decision of water supply curtailment to once in three days.
