Port Blair, Feb 20: The Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has recently demanded for construction of India's biggest Dockyard in Andaman & Nicobar Islands. 

During the recent budget session, the Member of Parliament submitted 50 demands to the Government of India. Among these demands, a major demand was the construction of India's biggest Dockyard in Andaman.

Port Blair, Feb 20: It has come to the notice of State Bank of India that there is reluctance on part of traders and members of public to accept ₹10 coins due to suspicion about their genuineness in certain areas of Andaman & Nicobar Islands. As all are aware that the Reserve Bank puts into circulation, the coins minted by mints which are under the Government of India. As coins have longer life, coins of different designs and shapes circulate in the market at the same time. All these coins are legal tender and can be accepted for transactions.

Port Blair, Feb 20: The Hon'ble Lt. Governor, Andaman & Nicobar Islands has declared the Summer Vacation for the year 2023, in respect of all Government, Private Aided and Unaided Schools of A&N Islands with effect from 26th April, 2023 (Wednesday) to 24th June, 2023 (Saturday) for 60 days, 25th June, 2023 being Sunday. All schools shall reopen on 26th June, 2023 (Monday).

Port Blair, Feb 20: India has ratified the convention No. 185 of the International Labour Organization (ILO) on Seafarer’s Identity Documents (SID) and accordingly Merchant Shipping (Seafarer’s Bio-Metric Identity Documents) Rules, 2016 has been notified and, issuance of SIDs to Indian Seafarer have been launched by DG (Shipping) from Aug, 2019.
