86, 838 Dozes of Vaccination Administered So Far

Port Blair, April 19: vaccination sessions are continuing in more than 30 designated vaccination centres set up in different parts of the Islands towards the fight against Corona virus in A& Islands.  Altogether 77 medical team engaged for the vaccination purpose is administering COVISHIELD vaccine to the eligible persons to cover maximum persons above 45+ on a daily basis.     The total vaccination dozes administered to the beneficiaries has now reached 86,838. Today (April 19), the medical teams in different designated Vaccination Centres have administered 3795 doses of COVISHIELD vaccine to the eligible persons.

Port Blair, April 19: Director, IP&T, Shri Alok Kumar underlined the need for strictly adhering to COVID-19 protocol & COVID appropriate behavior by every citizen to contain the spread of corona virus in Isles. Addressing a COVID-19 media briefing in the conference hall of IP&T, the Director said the number of positive cases detected today during RAT conducted at Port Blair till 2 pm stood at 21. Out of this, 19 were flight passengers and 2 from Ferrargunj.

Port Blair, April 19: Continuing to serve the people by providing ration kits to survive the difficult situation the Port Blair Guru Ki Rasoi provided free ration kits to single mothers who have been suffering because of their financial conditions.  

Mandeep Grewal the President Port Blair Guru Ki Rasoi was approached by Smt Brinda Wathi, social worker from Haddo area who explained the difficulties faced by the single mothers of her area. She also explained how single mothers who have lost their loved ones are living without ration for months and work hard to earn their livelihood.

Port Blair, April 19: The Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Secretary (APWD), A&N Administration for early execution and completion of Rural Road for a length of 270 mtrs starting from Babu Basthi to Ambe Tikrey at Ward No.3, Danduspoint under Namunaghar Gram Panchayat sanctioned under PMGSY-II. He informed the Secretary (APWD) that the contractor did the earthen work for few days and has stopped it since last two months. If the work is not complete before start of monsoon season, the villagers will be facing great hardship for their easy passage. The MP requested the Secretary to get the work completed before start of monsoon.

Port Blair, April 19: A COVID Vaccination camp was set up at Khalsa Public Senior Secondary School by NGO Navodhaya Foundation today. The Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, Shri.Suneel Anchipeka took the initiative to involve NGO's in reaching out to general public and create awareness about COVID Vaccination.

Navodhaya was tasked to conduct the camp one day prior and within a short notice the NGO, under the leadership of its director Smt. Protima Banerjee managed to organise the vaccination camp and achieved the target set up by the District Administration.
