Port Blair, Feb 6: To accelerate the preparation for conducting of State Level Mock Exercise (ME) (TATPAR– 2023) scheduled on 09.02.2023, the Secretary (Disaster Management), A&N Administration Shri A.S.P.S. Ravi Prakash, IAS chaired a review meeting today on 06.02.2023 in the Conference Hall of Secretariat, Port Bair on virtual mode which was attended by Dy. Commissioner, N&M Andaman, Asst. Commissioners, Rangat & Diglipur and other stakeholders of ANI alongwith Director (Disaster Management), Asst. Directors of DDM and Dy. Commandant, NDRF, 04 Bn, Arakkonam.

It is brought to the notice of electricity consumer and general public that, due to shortfall of power generation and to manage the shortfall of power generation through available power, the electricity department will exercise approximately 45 minutes rotational load shedding in and around Port Blair and South Andaman area during evening hours from 05.00 PM to 11.00 PM, if required, as per schedule given below. The below mentioned load shedding schedule is purely tentative and the duration & timing may vary depending on available power generation and other technical reasons. The schedule will be enforced for next 15 days or till further intimation.

SIT Submits 935 Pages Chargesheet in Gang Rape Case

Port Blair, Feb 5: Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by Andaman & Nicobar Police to investigate the sensational gang rape case FIR No 165/22 PS Aberdeen registered against a senior bureaucrat and other persons including a local high ranking official has submitted the chargesheet in the court on 3rd February 2023.

INTER ISLAND SECTOR:

MV Bharat Seema will sail for Car Nicobar via Little Andaman on 08.02.2023 (Wed) at 0700 Hrs from Haddo Wharf and will sail for Port Blair on 09.02.2023 (Thu) at 1600 Hrs from Car Nicobar via Little Andaman. Passenger tickets for the above sailing will be issued to the general public from 07.02.2023 (Tue) onwards at STARS Ticketing Counters.

Port Blair, Feb 5: #Bageecha – an initiative of Andaman Chronicle to bring people closer to nature, on Saturday 4th Feb 2023 organised a story telling workshop titled ‘Ek Kahani’. The workshop was conducted by National Awardee Teacher, Shri Chanchal Singha Roy, who travelled all the way from Kadamtala in the Middle Andaman to Bageecha for the session.

The workshop saw a participation of more than 20 children from different parts of the city. Children were briefed about the need to protect and conserve their environment and were trained to be story tellers themselves. A folktale of the Nicobars was narrated by Shri Chanchal Singha Roy through which it was explained how trees used to communicate with humans. It’s the arrogance and greed of we humans that leads to devastation. Roy also expressed that it has been scientifically proven that plants grow healthy when we talk with them and play music for them.
