Sri Vijaya Puram, March 23: The Andaman & Nicobar State Legal Services Authority (A&N SLSA) successfully organized a Legal Awareness Programme on ‘Child Care and Protection’ at Abbhyuday Complex, Bal Niketan, Children’s Home, Directorate of Social Welfare, A&N Administration, Ferrargunj, South Andaman yesterday. This initiative aimed to educate and empower children by raising awareness about their legal rights, safety, and available protection mechanisms.

Little Andaman, March 23: The Department of Agriculture, Little Andaman regularly conducts Pest & Disease Surveillance in the Farmers Field for monitoring Pest and Disease incidence. The prevailing weather conditions offers suitable environment for pest infestation in major crops particularly Coconut and Arecanut. During the Pest and Disease surveillance at Vivekanandapur, Ramakrishnapur and Rabindranagar incidences of Pest and Disease like Rhinoceros Beetle, Leaf Spot disease, Crown Rot, Yellow Leaf Disease, Rugose Spiralling Whiteflies on Coconut & Arecanut were reported in pockets.

Sri Vijaya Puram, March 21: Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Andaman and Nicobar Islands after a detailed field visit and discussions with the villagers of Manpur under Collinpur Gram Panchayat has brought some pressing issues to the attention of the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, for immediate intervention. The issues concerns highlighted include immediate repair and renovation of the road from Tushnabad to Tirur, which has been in a dilapidated state, causing inconvenience to the villagers, removal of dangerous trees that pose a threat to the safety of the villagers, especially during adverse weather conditions, provision of safe drinking water and cleaning of the filter bed to ensure the health and well-being of the community, ensuring uninterrupted power supply for the residents, shifting of crocodiles from areas where they present a risk to the safety of the villagers, setting up of a Junior Engineer Office, Patwari Khana and addressing other related administrative concerns to improve governance and service delivery to the people residing under these Gram Panchayat.
