Car Nicobar, May 17: ICAR KVK CIARI, Nicobar organized a one-day capacity-building program on 16th May, 2024 under TSP to boost the production of horticulture crops in Car Nicobar in collaboration with ICAR-IIHR at Big Lapathy village. Mr. Manuh Thomas, Captain, Big Lapathy village was the chief guest. The resource person was Dr. R. Senthil Kumar, Principal Scientist, ICAR-IIHR, Bangalore. Dr. Santosh Kumar, Senior Scientist and Head of ICAR-KVK, Car Nicobar coordinated the programme. A total of 33 farmers (21 female and 12 male), including all four captains of the village, attended the program. Mr. Patrick, a progressive farmer from Tapoiming village, was felicitated for his remarkable achievements, and Mrs. Laieesa was also honored for her accomplishments.

Squally weather with gusty surface wind 40-50 kmph is very likely along and off Andaman & Nicobar Islands from 20th May 2024. Sea conditions are very likely rough to very rough. Fishermen have been advised not to venture in to the sea.

The general public and the Government Departments have been informed that the power supply will remain suspended at Outer Feeder: Sippighat, Teylerabad, Bimblitan, Guptapara, Manjeri, Manglutan, Wandoor, Humphrygunj and Dhanikhari on May 18 from 7 am to 1 pm, in connection with the line clearance and maintenance of T&D system in Outer Feeder.

Campbell Bay, May 16: In continuation of the firm stance of Zero Tolerance against the Drug Menace, Campbell Bay police has achieved a significant breakthrough in their ongoing efforts to curb narcotics trafficking.

In a meticulously planned jungle search operation in the Babu Line & RPRS area, the Campbell Bay police, led by Sub-Inspector Roshan George, SHO Campbell Bay, uncovered a substantial amount of unclaimed Narcotic Drugs. The dedicated task force, comprising Sub-Inspector Siva Kumar, Head Constable Meiyappan, and Police Constables Bikash Sen, Anup, and Shahir, conducted a thorough search operation aimed at detecting illicit activities in the area.
