Port Blair, July 21: The vessel MV Swaraj Dweep will sail from Port Blair to Chennai on July 22, 2023 at 10 am. Embarkation of passengers will commence from 8 am on July 22 and will be closed one hour before the schedule time. Passengers reporting late will not be allowed to board the vessel. The vessel will sail only after completion of survey procedure which will commence on completion of embarkation of passengers for issuance of ‘B’ Certificate as per MS Act.

Port Blair, July 20: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Director General, Marine Mercantile Department, DG Shipping, Mumbai to consider permitting Inland Vessels to operate in a few more islands to promote Sustainable Tourism in Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

In a letter addressed to the DG, MMD, DG Shipping, the Member of Parliament said that Tourism has emerged as the primary source of employment for thousands of Islanders and Tourist Boat Operators of Andaman & Nicobar Islands are one of the leading contributors to employment generation, especially when considering the allied services.
