Port Blair, Feb 14: A proud moment for Islanders as R Kashthuri Bhai, a class VIII student of GDMS Middle Point, Port Blair has become eligible to participate in the World School Chess Championship 2023 scheduled to be held in Rhodes, Greece from 13 to 23 April 2023 under the auspices of the World Chess Federation (FIDE).

Port Blair, Feb 14: A special drive to prosecute bike riders performing stunts or involved in rash & negligent driving with their vehicles retrofitted/modified silencers was conducted from 02/02/2023 to 04/02/2022. During the drive, 11 two wheelers were seized and stringent action is being taken.
In addition, a special drive against abandoned vehicles was also conducted from 16/01/2023 to 12/02/2023. During the drive, 18 vehicles were removed from various parts of Port Blair city.

Port Blair, Feb 14: The Department of Disaster Management has been regularly conducting various disaster preparedness programmes in different departments and institutions of this UT under the guidance of Director (Disaster Management), Dr. Nitin Shakya. In continuation of this, the Department organized a sensitization programme for the students of 2nd Year (MBBS) of Andaman & Nicobar Islands Institute of Medical Sciences (ANIIMS) on Disaster Management & Preparedness at Directorate of Disaster Management today.

Port Blair, Feb 14: CPI (M) Kalighat Area Committee conducted a Mass Dharna at Kalighat bazaar today demanding immediate action by A&N Administration on various local demands of the people of North Andaman. Addressing the participants in the Mass Dharna, D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) A & N State Organising Committee, who was on a tour of North Andaman, said that the A & N Administration has turned a blind eye towards the problems and demands of the people. The BJP-ruled central government and its Administration in the islands have failed to solve any of the major demands of the people of Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
