Port Blair, July 25: The Island Development Agency (IDA), as part of its vision of “Holistic Development of the Islands” has laid emphasis on promoting tourism & highlighting ‘National Pride’ associated with the A&N Islands (ANI) & their significance in our freedom struggle.

The ANI were the first to be liberated from British rule & Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose who landed here at 11.30 on 29 Dec 1943, unfurled the tricolour here on 30 Dec 1943 - for the first time on non-British Indian soil & further ignited passion & imagination in all Indians in their quest for independence.  To commemorate & honour Netaji & his stellar role in our independence movement, Ross Island, was renamed ‘Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Dweep’ (NSCBD) by our Hon’ble PM in Dec 2018, while also inaugurating a grand Flag Point in memory of Netaji unfurling our tri-colour.

Port Blair, July 25: As a part of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’, the Ministry of Power in association with A&N Administration has organized a ‘Bijli Mahotsav’ in Chouldhari, District of South Andaman, Port Blair on 25th July, 2022 under the dynamic leadership of Shri. Jitendra Narain, Chief Secretary, A&N Administration. The Bijli Mahotsav is used as a platform to celebrate the collaboration between the State/ UT and the Central Govt. to highlight the key achievements of the power sector. Port Blair, July 25: As a part of celebrations on Ujjala Diwas under the theme of Azadi ka Amrit Mahastav, Ujjwal Bharat Ujjwal Bhavishya – Power @ 2047 is being organized all over India in July, 2022 by the Ministry of Power in collaboration with Govt. of States/UTs to showcase the achievements made by centre and State Govt. and to envision the future opportunities in power sector. In this connection the 1st programme in A&N Islands was held at Chouldhari Community Hall in South Andaman District.

Port Blair, July 25: Shri Ajoy Bairagi, State President, BJP-A&N Islands along with Smti Sampa Banerjee, State President, BJMM, A&N met Shri Neeraj Thakur, IPS, Director General of Police at his office today and put forth various issues pertaining to A&N Islands for which a positive response was received from the end of DGP, A&N Police.
