Port Blair, Oct. 20: As part of the observance of Global Iodine Deficiency Disorders Prevention Day, the National Iodine Deficiency Disorders Control Programme (NIDDCP) is scheduled to be held on 21st October, 2022 by the Directorate of Health Services in association with Union Territory Health Mission with the aim to zero mental and physical retardation, deaf & mutism, cretinism, still births, abortion etc., due to lack of Iodine.

Port Blair, Oct. 20: As part of commemoration of anniversary of the establishment of Provisional Govt. of Azad Hind (PGI) from Oct.17 to 23, 2022, a programme will be held on 21st October 2022 in the Andaman Club at 4 pm to highlight the contribution of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose in the Freedom struggle. During the programme, INA songs will be presented by Teacher's Choir of Directorate of Education. Eminent historians, Shri G.S Pandey and Shri Mukeshwar Lall have been invited to speak on the significance of the day. Besides this, prizes will be distributed to the winners of all competitions of weeklong activities. Earlier, during the day, 6 surviving members of INA/IIL personnel will be felicitated.

INTER ISLAND SECTOR:

Sindhu will sail for Campbell Bay via Nancowry on 27.10.2022 (Thu) at 1500 Hrs from Haddo Wharf and will sail for Port Blair on 29.10.2022 (Sat) at 0900 Hrs from Campbell Bay via Nancowry. Passenger Tickets for onward journey will be issued to the general public from 25.10.2022 (Tue) onwards at STARS Ticketing Counter, Phoenix Bay.

LITTLE ANDAMAN:

Sindhu will sail for Little Andaman on 22.10.2022 (Sat) at 0900 Hrs from Haddo Wharf and will sail for Port Blair on the same day at 2100 Hrs from Little Andaman.

Sindhu will sail for Little Andaman on 25.10.2022 (Tue) at 0900 Hrs from Haddo Wharf and will sail for Port Blair on the same day at 2100 Hrs from Little Andaman.

Passenger tickets for the above sailing (i.e. for 25th October, 2022) will be issued to the general public on 22.10.2022 at STARS Ticketing Counters.

Port Blair, Oct. 20: Heavy rain (07-11 cm) is likely to occur at one or two places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands on Oct. 21 & 22.  Due to formation of Low pressure area over north Andaman Sea and adjoining areas of South Andaman Sea & Southeast Bay of Bengal in the morning of 20th October, 2022 and likely intensification of the system, fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea from till Oct. 23, 2022.
