Students show keen interest in the lively session conducted by the Range Officer

Sita Nagar, Sept. 27: With an aim to sensitize the students of rural area about the unique bio-diversity of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, the Forest department conducted an awareness programme at Govt. Model Senior Secondary School, Sita Nagar, Diglipur today. Speaking on the rich bio-diversity of the Islands, the Range Officer Shri LJM Lobo said that the bio-diversity is unique in the world and it’s the duty of every Islander to protect and preserve it. Showing the video clips of the precious local flora and fauna, he described the importance of each species in maintaining the balance of the fragile eco-system. He said it’s very unfortunate that few greedy and selfish people, without knowing the consequences, tend to kill these rare species, thus making them extinct.

Port Blair, Sept. 27: Shri D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M), A&N State Organising Committee addressed a series of meetings of party workers and sympathizers during his tour to North Andaman from 23rd to 25th September, 2022. He visited Tal Bagan and Paschimsagar, the remotest areas of North Andaman on 24th September 2022. At Paschimsagar, he addressed a well-attended meeting of party members and sympathizers. Addressing the meeting, he assured the villagers that the problems and issues they presented before him will be brought to the notice of the authorities concerned. At Tal Bagan also, Secretary addressed a meeting of villagers.

Thunderstorm & lightning accompanied with gusty wind (speed reaching 30-40 kmph) is also likely to occur at one or two places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands on Sept. 29 & 30. Heavy rain (07-11 cm) is likely to occur at one or two places over Andaman Islands on Oct. 1.

Sindhu will sail for Campbell Bay via Nancowry on 29.09.2022 (Thu) at 1000 Hrs from Haddo Wharf and will sail for Port Blair on 01.10.2022 (Sat) at 0900 Hrs from Campbell Bay via Nancowry. Passenger Tickets for onward journey will be issued on 29.09.2022 at Haddo Wharf two hours prior to the departure time of the vessel based on verification of Covid Booster/Precautionary Dose Certificate or Negative RTPCR Test Report provided from the RTPCR testing Centre, Port Blair.
