Port Blair, June 13: The Chairman, Congress Campaign Committee, A&N Islands, Mr. TSG Bhasker has apprised the Chief Secretary of the present condition of M.V Swaraj Dweep and its poor maintenance.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary on Thursday, Bhasker emphasized that Shipping is the Lifeline for the Islanders especially during the peak season when the ship travel between Island-Mainland sectors remain in high demand but to travel in ship has now become a nightmare for our Islanders due to the lack of basic facilities inside the ship.

As per UGC regulations, a student can pursue two academic programmes, one in full time physical mode and another in the Open and Distance Learning (ODL)/Online mode simultaneously. Port Blair, June 13: Animal Welfare Board of India has issued an advisory to take all precautionary measures for strict implementation of the Animal Welfare laws to prevent cruelty towards animals, especially with regard to transportation and illegal killings. As per Rule 3 of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Slaughter House) Rules, 2001, no person shall slaughter any animal within a Municipal area except in a slaughter house recognized or licensed by the concerned authority empowered under the law for the time being in force to do so. No animal shall be slaughtered, which is pregnant or has an offspring less than 3 months old or is under 3 months of age or which has not been certified by a Veterinary Doctor that is in a fit condition to be slaughtered. Violation of the Animal Welfare Rules can attract stringent action against the offenders under the animal laws viz. PCA Act, 1960, Transport of Animals Rules 1978 (amended in 2001 & 2009), Transport of Animals on Foot Rule,2001, Slaughter House Rules,2001 (amended in 2010), Municipal laws Act & Regulations of Food Safety & Standards Authority of India.

Port Blair, June 13: The Andaman Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee President, Shri. Rangalal Halder has called upon the Directorate of Health Services, A & N Islands, to urgently address the water supply issues affecting the toilet blocks at the G B Pant Hospital, which was constructed in the year of 2022 under the MPLADS fund as a part of the hospital complex.

During a recent visit to the hospital by Shri. Halder, many visitors have placed their concern over the significant decline in the water supply to these toilet blocks, which was deficient over the past few months. The lack of adequate water has resulted in unsanitary conditions, rendering the toilets virtually unusable and posing a serious health risk to visitors.

Port Blair, June 13: All the mechanized fishing boat owners are informed that as per Rule 5 (a) i & ii of the A&N Islands Marine Fishing Rules 2004, all the Fishing vessels fitted with inboard engine(s) or outboard motor(s) having engine power 30 HP and above including sport fishing vessels are permitted for fishing only in Zone B (Territorial Waters) surrounding Andaman & Nicobar Islands beyond 06 Nautical miles from the appropriate baseline upto 12 Nautical miles).
