Port Blair, Sept. 30: The COVID-19 Sampling Centre at Nagarpallika Vidyalaya and COVID-19 Vaccination Centre at JNRM will be closed with effect from Oct.1, 2022. Those who are intending to undertake COVID-19 test have been requested to visit ITF ground to give their samples.

INTER ISLAND SECTOR:

MV Kalighat will sail for Campbell Bay via Little Andaman, Car Nicobar, Chowra, Teressa, Katchal & Nancowry on 04.10.2022 (Tue) at 1000 Hrs from Haddo Wharf and will sail for Port Blair on 07.10.2022 (Fri) 1200 Hrs from Campbell Bay via same route. Passenger Tickets for onward journey will be issued to the general public from 01.10.2022 (Sat) onwards at STARS Ticketing Counter, Phoenix Bay.

Students Advised to Refrain from any Disruptive Protest/ Agitation

Port Blair, Sept. 29: The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration (ANA) and team of senior officers had a detailed discussion with a large delegation of stakeholders comprising of students of DBRAIT, leaders of various Political Parties, PRI members, representatives of important NGOs and Civil Society Organizations regarding various issues raised by students of DBRAIT.  Chief Secretary emphasized that the academic future and interests of the students are paramount in the Administration’s consideration and reiterated the resolve and commitment of the ANA to take all steps to secure the same.

Port Blair, Sept. 29: The 28th of Sept. 2022 will be marked as a black day in the history of Andaman & Nicobar Islands wherein the protesting students of DBRAIT were dispersed using water cannons and tear gas by the Police and the Andaman & Nicobar Administration.

The protesting students along with their parents and well-wishers had blocked the road leading from the Airport to Dairy Farm junction in Port Blair to press on their 17 point demands concerning the affiliation of DBRAIT and other allied issues. The protesting students were of the opinion that the Andaman & Nicobar Administration had given false assurances which made them feel betrayed.

Campbell Bay, Sept. 29: The A&N Fire Service has lived up to its tradition and Motto “We Serve to Save” in firefighting operation at Campbell bay in which two fire fighters & one Police Radio Officer got injured in a massive inferno which occurred at RPRS Shelter Colony, Campbell Bay on 26/09/22.
