Port Blair, March 16: A study tour to the Skill Development Centre at  Mayabundar was conducted for the students of class X of the Govt. Model Senior Secondary school Sitanagar, Diglipur under Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan. Around 50 students boarded the bus to Mayabunder at 9 am from the school and reached the Skill Development Centre at Lucknow. The students got to know about the various skill developments programmes being conducted by the centre. The girl students were very excited to learn the Fashion Designing classes, as it was first ever opportunity to get familiar with ‘the hands on training’, related to the skilled work of Fashion Designing.  The students showed interest specially in learning the basics of the Zardozi Embroidery work. They attended the theory class also. 

Port Blair, March 16: Due to prevailing humid and hot climate there is an increase in power demand resulting in shortage of power. To cope up the situation, the Electricity Department will be exercising a rotational load shedding of approximately 30 minutes to 45 minutes in an around Port Blair and South Andaman area during evening peak hours i.e. from 05.30 PM to 09.30 PM w.e.f. 16.03.2022 onwards, till further announcement. The timing mentioned above is tentative and may vary subject to availability/shortage of power.

Port Blair, March 14: Central Crime Station in its continuous crackdown against illegal Narcotics trade in A&N Islands, arrested four persons with huge quantity of contraband.

Port Blair, March 16: During the RT-PCR test conducted on 226  passengers who arrived here yesterday, no positive case has been detected. Today, 3 flights with 338 passengers arrived, out of which, 303 passengers were vaccinated with both doses while RT-PCR test was conducted on 29 passengers and the reports are awaited. 

Port Blair, March 14: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary of A&N Administration to schedule Ships for Car Nicobar Island via Hut Bay twice a month.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, the Member of Parliament mentioned that due to the non-availability of ships for Car Nicobar via Hut Bay, a lot of people from Nicobari Community are unable to visit Car Nicobar to meet their family members and relatives during family functions/rituals as well as festivals.
