Port Blair, March 5: On 4th March 2023, Smt. Veditha Reddy, IAS, Secretary (RD/Panchayat) along with Shri. Dilkhush Meena, IAS, ADM, South Andaman, Shri. Azharuddin Zahiruddin Quazi, IAS, SDM, South Andaman and Shri. Aditaya Kumar Asthana, Director (RD/Panchayat) visited the Gram Panchayat Wandoor and Gram Panchayat Humfrygunj for inspection of MGNREGA works, Amrit Sarovars, RURBAN works and Solid Waste Management Cluster. The PRI members of both the Gram Panchayats, Panchayat Officials and Block staff were also present during the visit.

Port Blair, March 5: The Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee on Saturday organized 'Haath Se Haath Jodo' Abhiyan in Ward no. 11.

Led by ANTCC President, Shri. Rangalal Halder, ANTCC Campaign Committee Chairman Shri. G Bhasker and Ward no.11 Councillor, Shri. Sanjeev Reddy, a door-to-door foot march was conducted where Congress leaders interacted with the common people explaining them about the objectives of 'Haath Se Haath Jodo' Abhiyan.

Port Blair, March 5: The A&N Islands are covered with 81% of tropical rain forests of its total geographical area and it is rich heritage of Biodiversity having various eco-systems like marine, terrestrial, coastal, mangroves etc.

Extended summer season may cause forest fire as dry leafs are susceptible and works as good fuel. In past, few forest fires have caused damage to forest, wildlife and environment etc. In view of this, Dr. Nitin Shakya, Director (Disaster Management), A&N Administration has requested the residents of rural areas surrounding forest to follow the advisory on Do's and Don’ts of Forest Fire and to safeguard the eco-system of this Territory.

Port Blair, March 5: The two-day 'Shruti Amrut' festival concluded at DBRAIT Auditorium today with lively presentations by the noted Bharatnatyam exponent, Ms Alarmel Valli and renowned vocalist Dr. Ashwini Bhide-Deshpande which captivated the packed to capacity auditorium till the end of the programme. The two-day 'Shruti Amrut' festival organized by the Ministry of Culture, GoI, in collaboration with SPIC MACAY & Deptt. of Art & Culture, A&N Administration. The Adhyaksha Zilla Parishad, South Andaman, Smt. Pramila Kumari was the chief guest of today’s programme. The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS, also graced the occasion. The Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Smti Nandini Paliwal, IAS, and SPIC MACY Chairperson, Smti Rashmi Malik, senior officers of A&N Administration, general public and a large gathering of students witnessed the programme.

Port Blair, March 5: Under the National Solar Mission, the Government of India has set a target of installing of 40 GW Grid connected solar rooftop systems (GCRTS) in the country. MNRE, Government of India, in collaboration with the Electricity Department, A&N Administration has introduced 40% subsidy for the installation of grid connected rooftop solar power plants for residential consumers in the A&N Islands. The achievement till date in the A&N Islands is 4.15 MW in the government buildings, 30 KW in the residential buildings and 55 KW in the commercial buildings under South Andaman, which have already been installed and synchronized with the Electricity Department Grid.
