Port Blair, Feb 20: The Bhartiya Janta Party, Andaman & Nicobar Islands organized an event on Union Budget 2023-2024 “Know Your Budget” on 18th February 2023 at BJP Bhawan, Middle Point. The event was aimed to highlight the various opportunities and features of Budget 2023. The program was attended by dignitaries, party members and supporters. The event is organized under the leadership of Shri. B L Santhosh - National General Secretary (BJP), Shri. Sunil Bansal - National General Secretary (BJP) and Shri, Sushil Kumar Modi – MP, Rajya Sabha, Bihar.

Port Blair, Feb 20: The Hon'ble Lt. Governor, Andaman & Nicobar Islands has declared the Summer Vacation for the year 2023, in respect of all Government, Private Aided and Unaided Schools of A&N Islands with effect from 26th April, 2023 (Wednesday) to 24th June, 2023 (Saturday) for 60 days, 25th June, 2023 being Sunday. All schools shall reopen on 26th June, 2023 (Monday).

Chandrachoodan, President and Shri SP Kalairajan, General Secretary of the Andaman Sarvajanik Nirman Vibhag Mazdoor Sangh (Affiliated to CITU) met the Commissioner-cum-Secretary (PWD), Andaman & Nicobar Administration on 17th February, 2023 and demanded immediate grant of Non-Productivity Linked Adhoc Bonus to all the daily rated mazdoors working in the APWD.

Port Blair, Feb 20: India has ratified the convention No. 185 of the International Labour Organization (ILO) on Seafarer’s Identity Documents (SID) and accordingly Merchant Shipping (Seafarer’s Bio-Metric Identity Documents) Rules, 2016 has been notified and, issuance of SIDs to Indian Seafarer have been launched by DG (Shipping) from Aug, 2019.

Port Blair, Feb 20: The Directorate of Disaster Management, A&N Administration in coordination with the District Administrations recently conducted a 12 days Disaster Management Trainings under ‘Up-scaling Aapda Mitra Scheme’ of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) in South Andaman and North & Middle Andaman Districts. During the training, 191 community volunteers provided basic skills training for responding to their community's immediate needs during and in the aftermath of a disaster. These trained volunteers can assist in saving lives using the basic techniques of disaster response, coordination and management.
