Port Blair, Aug 13: In a Road Traffic Accident (RTA), that occurred on Aug 11, 2023, a 38-year-old male sustained crushed injury of left leg with ankle dislocation, and was presented to the GBPH/ANIIMS casuality with compromised vascularity of limb.

The patient was haemodynamically stabilised and taken for emergency surgical intervention. Without wasting any time, a team of Orthopedic surgeon and anaesthetist performed surgery on amputated part of the leg for 4 hours. Open reduction and fixation of ankle joint, lisfranc dislocation, ankle spanning external fixator application was done by a team.

Port Blair, Aug 13: The ‘AICF Chess For Everyone’ All-India FIDE Rated Chess Tournament 2023 is underway at TSG Grand Dollygunj which will be held for 5 days from 11th to 15th August 2023 over nine rounds.

Two rounds held on day 3 i.e. the fifth and the sixth round. The Fifth Round began at 8.00 am which was inaugurated by Shri. Dhinakaran, owner of Guru Enterprises. He made the first move on the top board to start the fifth round.

Port Blair, Aug 13: On 12.08.2023 the anti-poaching team consisting of ASI B.S Halder, HC V. Saji, and PCs Subrata Biswas & Shoaib Ali was on its way to search for foreign poachers in the mangroves and creek area of Loha Tikrey, Khari Nallah where they were suspected to be hidden. Suddenly, the team noticed some movement and the team got an alert from ASI B.S Halder. Then the team slowly forwarded towards them. On seeing the Police team the poachers tried to escape into the dense jungle but due to the warning shots fired by the Anti-poaching team, 03 poachers surrendered on the spot. Further, the team continued its search for more poachers, after an extensive search the team again noticed the movement of the poachers and accordingly the team rounded them and apprehended 02 more poachers successfully.

Port Blair, Aug 13: The Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association, Andaman and Nicobar Islands organized a State Level Convention on Restoration of Old Pension Scheme on 12.08.2023 at Port Blair to create awareness among the employees covered under NPS and demand for scrapping NPS and restore Old Pension Scheme. Smt. A.R.Sindhu, National Secretary, CITU and Shri P.Krishnaprasad, Finance Secretary, All India Kisan Sabha graced the occasion as guests. In her inaugural address, Smt. Sindhu briefed the gathering on  the recent programmme held at Ramleela Maidan, New Delhi on Scrapping of NPS which had seen immense response from the government employees and forced the government to have a talk with the leaders of employees front. She urged for a united struggle by the govt. employees, workers and farmers for the common rights of the people.
