Hearing of Hon’ble High Court Fixed for 9th June Due to Poor Internet Connectivity  

Port Blair, June 2: Continuing the Writ Petition W.P. No. 5324(W) of 2020, the Andaman and Nicobar Bar Association led by its President, Shri Mohammed Tabraiz had pointed out before the Hon’ble High Court of Calcutta, Circuit Bench at Port Blair that the undersea cable operating from Chennai is ready for operation in segment 1. i.e. Port Blair to Diglipur and Segment 2 i.e. Havelock, whereas segments 2, 3, 4 and 5 would require some time. Inspite of segments 1 and 6 being ready for operation, the islanders are being deprived of the facility when the islanders need the most, particularly for online classes of the students, operation of Video Conference in Courts and medical purpose.

Vessels to Operate Daily Between 06.00 AM to 08.00 PM

Port Blair, June 2: In light of the Guidelines for phased re-opening (Unlock 1), issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs and thereafter subsequent Order dt. 31.05.2020 by Chief Secretary, A& N Nicobar Administration under section 24(I) of Disaster Management Act, 2005, the Directorate of Shipping Services has restored its  Harbour ferry services at Port Blair as well as outstations with immediate effect, till 30.06.2020 or till new guidelines in this regard come into force.

Port Blair, June 2: In wake of COVID-19, M/s ELLON HINENGO LIMITED (EHL), a Central Tribal Cooperative Society owned by tribes of Car Nicobar Island represented by Mohammed Amin Moosa, General Manager presented today a cheque of Rupees Two Lakh Fifty Thousand only towards the Lt. Governor’s Relief Fund, Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The cheque was received by Shri Kulanand Joshi, IAS, Secretary to Lt. Governor, A&N Islands.

Port Blair, June 2: In a Circular issued on 1st July 2020, the Assistant Commissioner, South Andaman has extended the validity of certificates issued by the Tehsildars which includes No Dues and Non encumbrance, Valuation certificates etc.

Port Blair, June 1: To cater to the long standing demand of working women for safe and affordable accommodation in Middle Andaman, Admiral DK Joshi, PVSM,AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.) Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, A & N Islands and Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency has cleared the proposal for construction of a Working Women’s Hostel at Mithila Village at Rangat. Land for this project has been set apart by the District Administration and the 1st installment of Rs.432.67 lakh has been received from Ministry of Minority Affairs, Govt. of India under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK).
