Port Blair, Nov. 20: The meeting of the Andaman & Nicobar State Organising Committee of CPI (M) was held at Shaheed Bhavan, Anarkali, Port Blair today (20.11.2023).   Shri D. Ayyappan, Secretary, State Organising Committee presented the report on the activities of the Party since last meeting.

Shri G. Ramakrishnan, Polit Bureau Member of the Party reported the decisions taken in the meeting of Central Committee of the party. He said that various issues pertaining to the islanders are pending for the last several years. He briefly explained the anti-people functioning of the government at the centre and stressed the need to challenge this authoritarian government which poses a serious threat to our democracy, secularism and constitution.    

Port Blair, Nov. 20: Master Dinakar M A, a Class IX student of Kamaraj EM School and a Rated Player with a FIDE Rating of 1176 from the Islands, has been awarded the title of Arena Candidate Master (ACM) by the World Chess Federation for his outstanding performance in the FIDE Online Arena (FOA). The FIDE Online Arena is the official playing platform of the International Chess Federation (FIDE).

Mayabunder, Nov. 20: The Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra (VBSY) Campaign, one of the largest ever outreach initiative which is being undertaken by the GoI commenced in North & Middle Andaman District from today starting from Nilambur & Sundergarh Gram Panchayats in Baratang wherein PRIs, general public, school children, official of various line Departments participated with great zeal and pride.

Port Blair, Nov. 20:  Shri V. K. Abdul Aziz, Member, Bindaban Constituency, South Andaman has written to the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration recently urging for a cadre review and restructuring of Panchayat Secretary and IT Cadre under the A&N Administration.

In his letter, Abdul Aziz mentioned that it has come to his notice that employees in both of these cadres have now accumulated more than 25 to 30 years of service, and those appointed to the positions of Panchayat Secretary and Computer Assistant are expected to retire in the same posts after serving for more than 30 years.

Mayabunder, Nov. 20: The District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) of North and Middle Andaman celebrated ‘National Adoption Day’ befittingly on Nov.18, 2023 under the guidance of Shri Ankit Yadav, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, N&M Andaman. The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance and necessity of adoption to the children in need, so as to provide them loving parents, home, care, good education, amicable social atmosphere etc., which are the basic necessities of every child.
