Port Blair, Oct. 8: The Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC) marked its 23rd Raising Day on 08 Oct 23. Established in 2001 as a 'Unified Command' under the leadership of Commander-in-Chief, Andaman and Nicobar (CINCAN), the ANC has continually exemplified synergy and cohesion among the Services while safeguarding national interests in the distant Andaman & Nicobar region.

Port Blair, Oct. 8: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has decided to demand an investigation by CBI into the renovation of National Highway 4 in North and Middle Andaman and construction of Bridge at Middle Strait entrusted to the NHIDCL in view of the poor quality of work undertaken by the agency during the last 5 – 6 years. A decision to this effect was taken in the meeting of the CPI (M) Andaman & Nicobar State Organising Committee held at Shaheed Bhavan, Anarkali, Port Blair today (8.10.2023). 

Port Blair, Oct. 8: In continuation to the arrest made in 2.095 Kgs of Marijuana seized on 04/10/2023, 02 more accused persons who are the staff of postal services namely S.A. Karthick S/o Late S.V.S. Anand (40) yrs, M.T.S R/o Shadipur and D. Wilson David Raj S/o Shri V. Durairaj (27) yrs, DRM R/o Shadipur have been arrested under NDPS Act 1985 who were found to be actively involved in the crime.

Port Blair, Oct. 8: The Andaman & Nicobar Boxing Association recently organized a district-level boxing championship, featuring a total of 22 talented athletes. Notably, athletes from the Champions Zone Muaythai and MMA Club displayed exceptional prowess, securing a remarkable tally of 14 medals, comprising 6 gold, 4 silver and 4 bronze.

On Saturday 7th October 2023 a felicitation function was organized at Silver Spring wherein certificates were distributed to all medalists by the Guests of Honour, Mr Ration Rasheed Social worker, Mr. Avinash Kumar Singh, Superintending Engineer of PBMC, Mr Ebrahim Jadwet, Entrepreneur, Mrs Farida Bibi - Secretary-cum- Director, Hope Foundation NGO.

Port Blair, Oct. 8: A & N State Under - 9 Chess Championship cum Selection trial for the 36th National under - 9 Chess Championship 2023 was conducted by Andaman Nicobar Chess Association at ANCA Chess Centre, Dairy Farm, today (08.10.2023).

Around 40 young chess players participated in the selection championship with great enthusiasm in which the following chess players have been selected as per the final standings of the Championship to represent A & N Islands in the upcoming 36th National Under -09 Chess Championships–2023 scheduled to be held in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand from 2nd to 8th November 2023.
