Port Blair, Sept. 4: In pursuance to the direction received from Hon'ble Supreme Court of India for ensuring the enforcement of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act 2013 in true letter and spirit, an orientation programme was conducted by the Department of Social Welfare today in the Mini Conference Hall of Secretariat, for the Presiding Officers/Members of the Internal Complaints Committee from various Departments. About 47 participants from 33 Departments attended the programme. Miss Reeta Devi, Welfare Officer of the Department of Social Welfare while welcoming the gathering informed about the intent and impact of the POSH Act.

Port Blair, Sept. 4: ‘World Tourism Day’ is celebrated worldwide every year on 27th September 2023.  It is an important event that aims to raise awareness about the significance of tourism around the world. The theme announced by UNWTO for this year WTD-2023 is ‘Tourism and Green Investments’. As part of the celebration, the Tourism Department, A & N Administration has decided to organize WTD Beach Volleyball Knockout Tournament-2023 at Corbyn's Cove beach from 22nd to 24th Sept, 2023, besides other activities based on the theme from 9.30 am   to   8 pm in collaboration with tourism stakeholders of the Islands.

Port Blair, Sept. 4: The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Chemicals & Fertilizers will be arriving on a 3 days visit to A&N Islands tomorrow (Sept. 5). Soon after arrival, the Committee will visit the National Memorial Cellular Jail and thereafter, the Committee will proceed to Swaraj Dweep. On arrival, the Committee will hold informal discussions with representatives of Department of Chemicals and Petro Chemicals & Govt. of Andaman & Nicobar regarding safe usage of insecticides and pesticides in A&N Islands at Hotel Sea Shell Resort.

Port Blair, Sept. 4: The category-wise provisional merit list of candidates who have applied for admission to various courses in JNRM, Port Blair for the academic session 2023-24 have been posted in the Common College Admission Portal website (https://collegeadmission.andaman.gov.in).

The candidate may examine the provisional merit list and can submit their claim/objection, if any, through offline as well as online mode. For offline mode, request letter may be addressed to the Principal with requisite supportive documents and may be submitted to the Admission Wing of JNRM.
